Second working visit of IEE Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute delegation to University of Applied Sciences Hamm-Lippstadt
As part of the Erasmus+ (KA1) academic mobility project, a second working visit to the University of Applied Sciences Hamm-Lippstadt (hereinafter – HSHL). The delegation included: Deputy Director of IEE on International Cooperation, Assoc. Prof. Yuliia Chernetska; Head of the Power Supply Department, Assoc. Prof. Olena Borychenko; Head of the Department of Automation of Electrotechnical and Mechatronic Complexes, Prof. Serhii Boichenko; and Head of the Training Centre for Energy Managers, Assoc. Prof. Anatolii Cherniavskyi.
The visit agenda encompassed meetings with HSHL staff, professors, and students, as well as tours of the university’s laboratories in Hamm and excursions to the “All Electric Society Park”, an innovation center created by PHOENIX CONTACT in Blomberg, Germany.
During the meetings with HSHL professors, key areas for future collaboration and the preparation of a joint project proposal for German-Ukrainian research cooperation for sustainable recovery were discussed.
Specific discussions on the joint project proposal preparation involved the following HSHL professors:
- Dr. András Biczó, Head of the Department Hamm 2, research area: Manufacturing and Production Technology;
- Dr.-Ing. Aleksandra Sasa Bukvic-Schäfer, research area: Electrical Engineering;
- Dr.-Ing. Marcus Kiuntke, research area: Bioenergy Engineering with a Focus on Biogas;
- Dr. Myrto Leiss, research area – Human Resources Management and Organisational Studies;
- Dr. Robin Nunkesser, research area – Mobile Computing;
- Dr. Zoia Runovska, research area – Application-oriented Mathematics;
- Dr. Jens Thorn, research area – General business administration.
HSHL has state-of-the-art laboratory facilities that support high-level research and practical training for engineers. Prof. András Biczó and his team introduced the technical capabilities of the Hamm-2 laboratories, showcasing innovative solutions for education and research.
Heinrich Techrieb provided a detailed overview of energy-focused laboratories, emphasizing their potential for implementing interdisciplinary projects.
During a meeting with Prof. Dr.-Ing. Aleksandra Sasa Bukvic-Schäfer, the results of internships undertaken by IEE KPI Master’s students Yelyzaveta Tupotina and Yuliia Onishchenko at the German company PHOENIX CONTACT were reviewed. Particular attention was given to the students’ achievements during their internships and the impact of this experience on their professional development. Plans for expanding cooperation in this area were also outlined.
During the meeting with Bachelor’s students enrolled in the “Energy Technologies and Resource Optimization” program, Yuliia Chernetska presented information about relevant educational programs at the IEE Power Supply Department and student thesis topics.
The specifics of the current Erasmus+ academic mobility project were discussed during a working meeting with HSHL International Office representatives Britta Morzick and Julian Todt. The discussions focused on current organizational issues, participant adaptation, and improving support procedures. Additionally, key steps for submitting a new project proposal were outlined, which will help expand collaboration and involve more students and staff.
